Aliso Viejo, California, January 16, 2007 - US Technology, a leading provider of
IT services and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) solutions for Fortune 500 and
Global 2000 enterprises, today announced the opening of a new development center
in Chennai, India. This center is the second US Technology development center in
Chennai. The new center will be dedicated to software development and application
maintenance while the first center will handle BPO operations.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was presided over by Mr. C.Y. Lee, CIO and ITSC head,
DHL Asia Pacific and Tim Allan, head of procurement and vendor management, DHL Asia
Pacific. US Technology provides DHL Asia Pacific with IT application support and
Web-based application development.
The $12-million facility will accommodate 500 employees initially. US Technology
is slated to occupy 185,000 square feet and plans to hire 2,500 employees within
the next 18 months. The facility is located in the IT corridor, the premiere area
for IT companies, on Old Mahabalipuram Road.
"We built our initial Chennai center two years ago because Chennai is one of the
most desirable tier-1 cities in India. In the last 12 months we doubled our headcount
in Chennai and, in the second half of 2006, we added several large new global enterprise
clients. Our aggressive growth last year led to the need to expand our Chennai operations,"
said G.S. Krishnamoorthy, India operations head for US Technology. "Our new center
in Chennai proudly offers a whole array of niche and high-end talent pool and domain
expertise to cater to the ever-increasing demands of our global clients and to
exceed their expectations."
Many research reports consistently rank Chennai as a highly desirable city due to
its reasonable cost of living and commuting time, the availability and affordability
of housing, and excellent educational system. In fact, Chennai annually produces
more than 50 percent of the electronics and computer science graduates in the country.
Many companies prefer IT professionals from the area as they are English-speaking.
Both of the US Technology centers will be able to leverage the diverse skill sets
available throughout the city.
